If the symbolic link method doesn't work there are many discussions on the NI forum about this topic, and some useful support pages on the NI site. The sample libraries you should be able to re-link to your external drive. The plug-ins themselves should not be moved after you install them. I haven't used symlinks to do what you are considering and Tony may have done this successfully with NI stuff, but a word of caution- Komplete is pretty finicky about having content moved.
